The story behind Elm Street Mercantile โ and why we believe in the people who make things by hand.
Elm Street Mercantile started the way most good things do โ with someone who couldn't stop buying handmade goods at local farmers markets and wishing there was one place to find all of them.
Our founder spent years visiting makers, farmers, and artisans across the Mid-South โ learning their stories, tasting their products, and falling in love with the intention behind every jar, candle, and handthrown mug.
In 2019, Elm Street Mercantile opened its doors as a permanent home for those makers โ a curated shop where every product has a story, and every purchase supports a real person doing something they love.
Started with 8 local makers and a small storefront on Elm Street.
Brought our curation to customers across Tennessee and beyond.
Now working with over 30 local farms, artisans, and craftspeople.
Every product we carry has been personally vetted by our team. If we wouldn't use it in our own home, it doesn't make it to our shelves โ simple as that.
Three things guide every decision we make.
Every dollar spent here flows back into our local maker community. We pay fair margins and promote our partners like they're family โ because they are.
We don't carry everything โ we carry the right things. Every product is tested, vetted, and chosen because it genuinely adds something to your life.
Sustainable sourcing, minimal packaging, and locally made goods that don't have to travel across the world to get to your door.
